Merry Christmas!!!!! Tis the season and one of my favourite times of the year! Christmas is a time for family memories, traditions, and spending time with those you love. It’s a time for Christmas carols, tree decorating, Christmas lights, baking cookies, and curling up by the fire with a cup of hot cocoa while enjoying a Christmas movie. All of these things are wonderful, but the real meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus, is really the greatest gift of Christmas! I encourage you to also remember those who are less fortunate this Christmas. I’ve had the honour of performing at the Sylvan Lake Yuletide Festival, which raises money for the foodbank and urgent care facility. I also performed for 95.5 Real Country “Stuff A Bus” in Parkland Mall Red Deer which raises money and collects toys and non-perishable food items for the foodbank and Christmas bureau. It was amazing to be part of these great causes and I met many wonderful people involved with both events. Last Christmas my family and I started a new Boxing Day tradition. We spent a few hours downtown Red Deer handing out MacDonald’s & Tim Hortons gift cards, toques, and winter gloves to the homeless. It was truly incredible to see my nieces and nephews happily joining all of us adults and blessing others. I share this not to boast about good things I’ve done, but rather to encourage you to find ways to make a difference in other’s lives this Christmas season. Whether it’s in a big way, or in a smaller way like buying a cup of coffee for the homeless or visiting the elderly in care homes. Kindness is kindness no matter how big or small the act. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Love, Alecia (and Hank…. “Santa Paws”)
